On this Episode of the Hills...

After a cool encounter with my Pen Pal I made my way down to Los Angeles the City of hills, Hollywood, and possibly one of the greatest fast food restaurants known to man. My friend Shawn has a cousin Jada who lives in LA with Todd a friend from College and they welcomed me with open arms. When I got into LA it was late Jada and I decided to relax get some food and watch the office and some other shows to wind down. I had the aspirations to have a big first day so a calming night was exactly what I needed.

After I woke up looking a little scruffy, I went to get a haircut at Floyds Barbershop. It has a really cool atmosphere all the Barbers and Hairdressers carry their equipment in tool boxes and it has a nice little feel to it. I wanted to go with something a little different so I decided I’d have my barber (who was from Queens, so you know he did good work) start a Mohawk for me. He took care of me but because my hair was short, it’s there just not as prominent yet.

So I was fresh and ready to go to Disney Land. I start Issy up and she sounds Horrible. I check her out and her chain is low and needed to be looked at. I rode around and found a cool shop that had a chain for her. I was excited until the mechanic looked at the sprockets (fancy word for the metal that rotates the chain) and he said putting a new chain on them would just ruin the new chain and wear it out quickly. Of course they didn’t have sprockets for Issy and after a few phone calls I found that none of the places in the area had them either. Great so the only option for me was to get her to Vegas, my next stop, and have them ordered and delivered there. Not much I could do besides that so we took care of it.

At this point I had been in the shop for a few hours and most of the day was gone. Striking up a conversation with the girls at the counter who had been to Disney World they expressed to me that to anyone over the age of 12 Disneyland is a Disappointment. But they did give me a list of places I could check out in LA. The shopping centers, Walk of Fame, The Hills the big tourist attractions. I drove around and found myself in Korea town which was cool and went into an area with mostly Latin people around. The Burger King even sold tacos I don’t think the one back homes does. And you know you’re in LA when you have to pay to get into the bathroom. It’s a quarter. I was told that it’s to make sure that people don’t vandalize and the cashiers will provide quarters to those who ask to use it but still.

Jada was getting out of work soon so I started to head back. She had a long day so we went to this dope milkshake place called Millions of Milkshakes, it was legit. Made everything from scratch and because I got a large I got a free Hotdog. I upgraded to a chili cheese dog, and was surprised when they put shredded cheese on top. It wasn’t the usual melted cheddar but it was tasty. We went back to the place and Watched 17 Again and Mall Cop. I fell asleep after 17 Again; it was a good movie by the way.

The next day I was determined to put my tad misfortune behind me and check out the walk of fame and the Hollywood sign. In the morning I put the finishing touches on the problem with Issy and went to check out the famous Walk of Fame. People don’t tell you how LONG this thing is. I walked for a few hours taking pictures of the people I knew and still wasn’t done. After walking for a while I ran into this guy Jon he was giving stress test. They were free so I figured I would give it a try. He talked to me for a while and we found that I was pretty stress free. The only area in my daily life right now giving me stress is apparently women. After a few jokes about how that came up on all guys tests he tried selling me a book written by the founder of Scientology on how to deal with problems. I liked what he had to say and I liked his approach. The whole time I was critiquing his delivery. Amazing never made me feel his way was the absolute truth, never put down other religions and expressed how many people practice Scientology in addition to other religions. I don’t know whose teaching that pitch but I would certainly pick up their book.

It was getting late and we were going out so I had to get back. But I kept hearing about this In and out burger. A fast food place that was legendary in Cali. I hopped in and ordered a Double Double Animal Style with fries and a Sprite. I admit I was a skeptic, and wrongfully so because the food was amazing. If you ever in Cali I would suggest getting it, and if you could order me one and send it to me. Best fast food burger I have ever had without question. After finishing the food, Tood, Jada and I went to a party, a birthday celebration for someone Jada works with. It was a black light party. They had beer, Alcohol, and a champagne fountain, and some really good snack foods. I was talking with a lot of the people here and most of them coming from different places explained to me, that they loved being in LA but missed one thing. The Snow. It’s funny because I was thinking of same thing. That this place was awesome but what about Walking in Central Park on a Snowy day or Ice Skating in Bryant Park it just wouldn’t be the same without all the seasons. After the party we met up with some of their friends and talked and had some drinks. Their friends are interesting, all with different taste and ambitions but find something in common that makes the group work. We retired kind of early, because we had a fun filled day coming up. I was preparing my liver for what it was about to endure.

One Mile at a Time.
