Sinners and Saints
I knew I was going to have my Share of bumps on the road, well today I found out rule number one of “The Survival Guide to Riding Cross Country”
#1. Make sure that your gear is securely fastened to the bike. *If not then you may drag your bag for 10 miles or more and rip the bottom of it, and lose the pair of cool swim trunks that you found while in Delaware. Needless to say it happened to me today. My bag fell to the side and dragged on the ground for a while. Actually ripped one of the buckles clean off. I was just happy that it didn't mess up my computer. Eh nothing much just keep swimming.
Today was amazing. Beautiful weather and the ride was really nice. I went to the Naismith Basketball hall of fame in Springfield, Ma for the first time ever. I learned so much a
bout the game; it’s fascinating how motivating certain things can be. The Michael Jordan exhibit and the evolution of the game inspired me. I’m no basketball phenom by any means, but that feeling you get when you realize that you were/are part of something huge, bigger than you will ever be, is humbling. One of the many things I didn’t know was that Michael Jordan had a “Love of the Game” clause in this contract. This basically said that he could play during the off season when and where he wanted to. He loved to play and to train and he did it because that was his passion. On a smaller scale far from the spot light of the hardwood, it reminded me of myself. I’m not “looking for myself” or “trying to find love” (my friend Megan thinks I’m going to find THE ONE on this trip and stop mid way and stay with her forever) I’m just doing what I love to do…
Travel and explore new and exciting places. The thrill of the unknown entices me. The Hall of Fame was awesome, I was there for 3 hours and didn't see everything I wanted to. After the Hall I was on my way to Maine.
Side Note: A few weeks before I left, I searched and searched and looked really hard (didn’t want to be too repetitive) to find a Saint Christopher Medallion (He is the Patron saint of Travelers.). This was inspired by the movie Crash. But the thought of having
someone there looking over me was in a way comforting. I could not find it ANYWHERE I went to Newburgh to look for a specialty store and to Christian book stores. Couldn’t find it. Today I’m going through my Bike Jacket to get money out and there, in the pocket over my heart, is the Saint Christopher Medallion with the inscription “SAINT CHRISTOPHER PROTECT US” It Just goes to show that you keep looking for something long enough and eventually you’ll find it.
Next stop Maine to check out the Nubble Lighthouse and catching a couple rays at the beach. Need a little work on the tan.

One mile at a time.
